Design & Project Planning

MINICUT offers you valuable design and planning assistance on the practical aspects of manufacturing custom parts. Whether you are just beginning your parts design or you already have drawings to submit, you may want to make sure everything is properly specified. We use the following check list to make sure you haven't overlooked any important planning steps:

Function is All Important

A part or product function should dictate its design. We will check about design feasibility and some of the practical aspects of the manufacturing process. Design simplicity is cost effective.

Specify Critical Dimensions

Clearly identify all dimensions that are critical. Specify exactly what the tolerances need to be. Tighter tolerances can increase cost, so allow for flexibility on non-critical dimensions.

Materials Options

Material type, thickness and temper can significantly affect the cost of the finished part. Carefully relate the material used to its end use. Feel free to discuss your material issues with our experts.

Lead Times

Realistic lead times for quality tool building and manufacturing of your part is essential for cost effective pricing and production.

Quantities, Volume and Future Purchases

Accurate projections of current and future needs will help determine the best manufacturing process for your requirements. Our unique fabrication processes can minimize tooling and total part cost. If possible, let us know your future requirements as well as your current needs. It could save you a bundle.

Family Purchasing

Having "families of parts" produced by us can result in significant overall savings. Let us give you a quote for similar parts to see if you can reduce cost.

Assemblies, and Other Secondary Operations

Let MINICUT quote you a price to assemble and/or package your individual components. This "one-stop-shop" approach will not only save you time and money, but can also reduce your total delivery lead time.

Shipping

Determine the best shipping method based on any special handling requirements or time-in-transit. We will be more than eager to save you time and money. Also let us know about any special packing requirements to protect your parts appearance.

MINICUT offers partners a cost savings in terms of Time To Market (TTM) through our wealth of experience and in-house expertise. TTM savings are realized through the following:

MINICUT employs a Concurrent Engineering approach to development where input is obtained from as many functional areas as possible before the product / part specification is finalized. This results in the product development team clearly understanding what the product requires in terms of performance, critical to quality dimensions and fit, environmental conditions during operation, and schedule of launch.

This approach is able to reduce costs associated with time to market and through efficiency and maximize the client's return on investment.

MINICUT staff collectively manage all projects; with program management resources based in Ottawa. MINICUT monitors and reports on your product progress on a regular basis.
